On monkey mind
It is all in our minds
There has been enormous amount of research done on how the human brain functions, yet nothing concrete has come out yet. The idea of me writing this is not to demean the number of hours and all the hard work put in by so many individuals, but to accept the reality, that not everything is possible.
I was first introduced to the topic of ‘monkey mind’ in one of the investing blogs by a very famous investor. The concept was very interesting, and the curious me wanted to know more about it. So, I started reading and discussing about it with friends / relatives. Idea of putting it down here is to ensure that this idea does not get lost in the brain (unlike many others in the past)
I plan to write more on this topic, maybe via more examples or personal / shared experiences. For now, I’ll stick to one idea:
I was having a chat with a teacher and she gave me such an interesting advice:
She told me that when she joined college she used to get overwhelmed with so many things going on around her. She used to lack confidence and she thought it was visible to others as well.
Years later, while she was having a conversation with her group of friends from college, she randomly mentioned about her under confident personality during college days, to which her friends were surprised. They said they never thought of her as under confident during the college days.
It was always in her mind that she thought that way. Not her friends, neither the society in general. But, her mind. And, a common advice is therefore also on the lines of ‘master your mind’ and you shall win anything.
Our mind is our biggest asset (and also our enemy), so, we should learn to control it. As, once that starts we shall realize that we know nothing and we are nothing.
